Schools Celebrate NZ Chinese Language Week
Meadowbank School
Meadowbank School students had a blast celebrating Chinese Language Week! The school invited Erhu and Beijing Opera experts to host cultural workshops, where students learned about the history of these traditional art forms and even gave them a try. Additionally, each class got hands-on with traditional crafts—including dragon drawing, lantern making, fan crafting, and paper cutting—which are now beautifully displayed in all of the classrooms.
Sylvia Park School
Sylvia Park School celebrated Chinese Language Week with a vibrant outdoor assembly on a glorious winter’s day. Many staff members, including the Principal, dressed in beautiful Chinese clothing, helping to create a warm and festive atmosphere. Students and guests enjoyed a range of Chinese cultural performances, including singing and dance, while colourful student craftwork was proudly displayed across the stage and backdrop.
It was a joyful celebration of language, culture and community, and a wonderful way to recognise the richness of Chinese language learning at Sylvia Park School.
